All the Announcements from the Xbox Business Update

Xbox

The Xbox business update has happened, and it's not all doom and gloom like some thought. During the Official Xbox Podcast, they announced that four first-party Xbox games will be coming to Switch and PS5. They did not tell which games are coming, but based on rumours, it is believed that those games are Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Grounded, but Xbox hasn't confirmed it.

They announced that Diablo IV will be coming to Game Pass on March 28th, and it will be the first new release since the Activision Blizzard deal to go to Game Pass.

We have a new update on Game Pass subscriber counts. There are now 34 million subscribers; when we last heard in January of 2022, it was 25 million. There was not as much growth as expected, but I wish more as they release more first-party games.

Phil Spencer said, "No fundamental change to exclusivity," and that Game Pass will still only be available on Xbox and PC. I genuinely think they would if they could have Game Pass on Nintendo and PlayStation.

A next-gen Xbox is in development, and the plan will still be for Game Pass to get first-party releases on day 1.

So, in the end, not much has changed, and it shows you what the rumour mill can do to a brand. The gaming industry is in for a significant change soon, and the fact four games are coming to PlayStation and Nintendo proves that. It could be a wait-and-see approach from Xbox to see if these four games are successful, and if they are, we might see a lot more coming to other consoles.
