Disney Dreamlight Valley will no longer be free-to-play

Disney Dreamlight Valley will no longer be free-to-play when it comes out of early access, as said by the team at Gameloft on the official web page for the game.

The global launch for this change will take place on December 5th, and in my opinion, it will be hard for me and my family to continue playing. The content drops so far have been spaced out, and when they do fall, you can finish them off in a couple of days.

Unless this new content has more to it, this could spell the end of Disney Dreamlight Valley.

In the blog post, they said, "Today, we are excited to announce the arrival of Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time, a paid Expansion Pass coming to Disney Dreamlight Valley this December 5th." After that, they get into the paid features, as all expansions have been free. My family and I had been playing the game on Xbox Game Pass, so we got the game via that service.

They say, "Early Access has been incredibly valuable for the Disney Dreamlight Valley team. Thanks to your enthusiasm and participation over the past year, we have had the chance to build the game we aspired to while implementing your feedback to make the Valley experience even more magical. Reflecting on the journey we've been on with all of you, we're so excited to share that on December 5th, Disney Dreamlight Valley will be leaving Early Access.

As we transition to launch, existing players will keep access to the game, their Moonstones, and their save game."

So the good news is all the hard work players have put into the game won't be lost. They continue by saying, "As we look ahead to the official launch, with the learnings we've gained from Early Access, we've decided to remain a paid game for the foreseeable future. This means we will not make the transition to be a free-to-play game when we leave Early Access on December 5th."

"This choice ensures that Disney Dreamlight Valley will be able to continue delivering a premium game experience for all players. It's important to us that we maintain our promise to keep delivering free content updates that add new characters, realms, clothing, furniture, and more surprises to your Valley. Purchases requiring moonstones will remain optional, fair, and match the level of quality players have come to expect. Players will still be able to collect free Moonstones via Dream Snaps and Chests or optionally choose to purchase them."

"Moving forward, Founder's Packs will continue to be available through December 4th. When we transition out of Early Access on December 5th, we'll unveil all-new editions. New players can purchase the core game (with bonus Moonstones) or opt for the Gold Edition, which includes exclusive cosmetic items, access to the A Rift In Time expansion, and even more bonus Moonstones. Take a look at the exact contents below:"

Now, any players who claim the founders pack before December 4th will be granted unique cosmetic items included in the upcoming Gold Edition free of charge.

They also announced a Cozy Edition, which releases on November 10th.
