Huge Update to Helldivers 2 in Latest Patch

Helldivers 2

While debunking X accounts that claim Arrowhead Game Studios is being purchased, we received a huge update via a patch to Helldivers 2 this week.

Yesterday, though, an X account that goes by @NextGenPlayer stated that he or she had heard that Sony was purchasing Arrowhead Game Studios.

Rather quickly, though, the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios, who has been extremely vocal about Helldivers 2 on X, debunked the claim. X even put a statement below the post saying that it isn't true. Surprisingly, @NextGenPlayer has kept their post up.

With the vast success that Helldivers 2 is seeing right now, it's no surprise that people on the Internet are looking for clicks by posting statements but saying they're rumours. This allows the person who posts these claims to not have to back them up with any evidence to the contrary but still get the engagement from the Internet.

In the latest patch, though, we have seen some big changes coming to the game in the form of dynamic weather and changes to the weapons. In such a short period, I haven't seen a developer adjust and add things to a game as much as I have seen from Arrowhead Game Studios. It's rather refreshing to see the care and dedication the studio has put into Helldivers 2, and it makes me want to support the studio more. I'm even looking for a Steelbook Edition of Helldivers 2 for my collection, so if anyone sees one, please drop it in the comments and let me know.

The update, though, for some players they feel is coming at a cost, as some are saying that they think some weapons are being nerfed, making the game even harder. Making these claims without playing the game after the patch, though, I feel, is a bit of a stretch, and the developer has even come out to say that we can't even see all the stats for the weapons, so making "This weapon is the best" videos is almost pointless right now. The player base is now asking for more transparency regarding weapon stats, so we will see if we get them in the future.

One of the more intriguing updates is that dynamic weather is added to the game, so even the weather can kill you. I wanted this as I went from planet to planet, and I'm glad they are adding this to the game. I don't know what it is about dying in Helldivers 2, which is so much fun, and I feel this adds to it. The weather is random, from fire tornados to meteor showers.

Below are the full patch notes. We will update our thoughts as we play the game to let you know if and what feels different.

Minor Patch 01.000.100
