Just Dance 2024 is "Just Fun," as my daughter would like to say. I have had the game since the launch, and my daughter loves it. This isn't the game that is on my list as highly anticipated, but I think it should be because it makes my daughter so happy.
I want to ask the question: should it matter that I haven't played this game, but I'm reviewing it? I doubt I'm Just Dance's target audience, but as a parent, I'm happy to see my child loving this game.
We're playing it on the Switch, and this is the second year we have gotten this game. Last year, my daughter liked it but fell off pretty quickly in playing it. She is older this year and way more into music than she has ever been. My daughter is seven, and as she has grown up, her interest has changed.
I will get into all the new features Just Dance 2024 offers, but I want to be honest as you read that we haven't tried them all. We have played this game every Friday as a family since launch and have had a blast. I don't think, as a family, we have ever had a game that we have had this much fun playing together.
Song List
Just Dance 2024 features 40 new songs from some of your favourite artists, like "Flowers" from Miley Cirus, a song my daughter likes now but has no clue who she was. I would be remiss, though, if I didn't mention they have songs from my childhood, like "I wanna dance with somebody" by Whitney Houston. If you know that song, you have just heard that song in your head as you read that. My personal favourite is "Rapper Delight" by Groove Century. There are so many great songs that the whole family can enjoy, and some have lower difficulty levels, and that same song can have higher difficulties for more of a challenge.
Not only do they have 40 new songs, but the songs from Just Dance 2023 are included, which adds so much more value and allows my daughter to still rock out to her favourite band, Imagine Dragons. They also provide you with a free 30-day trial to Just Dance +, which has over 300 songs and new ones get added regularly.
As a parent, one of the biggest pluses of Just Dance 2024 is that it is a physical activity, and you're not sitting there being inactive. When my daughter asks to play, it's an instant yes, and it also tires her out, and she is ready for bed quicker in the evening. So, if you're looking for something that you're kid won't realize is exercise and fun, well, look no further than Just Dance 2024.
Challenge Mode
Just Dance 2024 has a challenge mode, so you can go head-to-head against a friend online or against the worldwide leaderboard. I want to be honest, though, as we didn't test this mode out, but it is included in the game.
Workout Mode
Just Dance 2024 offers a workout mode which we tried out, which counts the calories that you burn after each workout. Each song has a workout version that makes you do more heartbeat-racing movements and gets you moving. I did it once, and I was shocked at how much it elevated my heart rate. I even thought to myself maybe I should try this as my cardio. From what I understand, Just Dance had mode previously that was called "sweat mode" but wasn't nearly as in-depth as the new exercise mode.
Graphics
We played the game on the Switch, which looked beautiful and colourful. The backgrounds they use are eye-popping and stand out, and the dancers are looking sharp. The costumes of the dancers fit the songs perfectly and add to the fun of the game.
One Platform
Now a fully online entertainment platform, the game is regularly updated with new content, music and features throughout the year. You can participate in themed seasonal events with free songs and playlists for a limited time.
Win avatars, backgrounds, name badges and aliases to personalize your dancer card and show off your personality in the game.
All 2023 and 2024 Edition players are connected on the same platform and can play together online. And if you own both editions, all content is together in the same place, which is a huge plus.
I'm sure if my daughter's friends, who are all coming over to play this at her birthday party, get this game, my daughter will soon want to play with her friends online.
Conclusion
If you haven't noticed by now, I highly recommend this game for the fun factor and if you're looking for something the whole family can enjoy. If you have a dancer in your life, this is a must-buy, and I think this is fun for all ages. In a world of single-player or multiplayer games, Just Dance 2024 stands out in a league of its own.
It offers a lot of value as well because there is a ton of replayability, and you could always change up your playlist to add variety. There is something for everyone with Just Dance 2024, and I highly recommend it because having fun with games is essential.
