I love the Persona franchise and Persona 3: Reload is no exception. Typically, any additional content has come in the way of a new title, such as Persona 4: Dancing all Night, Persona 4 Arena, Persona 5 Royal, or Persona 5 Tactica, for example. But this is one of the first times I recall getting additional content through an expansion pass, and this was revealed today during the Xbox Partner Preview.
The first big piece of news is that the Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass is coming on March 12 and will be available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users for free as part of the Perks program.
There are three stages to the expansion pass. The first two phases are more cosmetic, but the third is additional gameplay.
The first Wave on March 12 is background music from Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal. While I love those music soundtracks, I am enjoying learning P3R's soundtrack, so I will likely not utilize these.
Wave 2 is in May, and is a Velvet Room Costume and Music set. I think they added this as a filler until the next wave, as I think most fans will have completed the story by then, but it is good to see them containing to support the game in this way.
Wave 3 is an additional story chapter titled Episode Aigis -The Answer-. “Persona 3 Reload would not be complete without Episode Aigis –The Answer-,” says General Producer Kazuhisa Wada. “The epilogue is sure to satisfy both those who have played the original Persona 3 FES and those who are just starting out.” I think its great that they are adding more story. It feels like the content they wanted to add which did not warrant a brand new title like P5R, but that they also needed more time to complete this after releasing the main game.
I think its great that they are taking this time but giving a few little rewards in the meantime. While 6 months is a long time to wait for another chapter, Persona fans will enjoy the additional work being put into this and I am excited to look forward to even more story of a game that I am playing through for the first time!
